Our stores are closed today (although, pssst, you can still buy gift cards online in case you forgot someone!) so the 250+ employees of Let’s Dish! can spend the day with their loved ones.  After shopping, chopping, prepping and cleaning all year long, here’s hoping they get some well-deserved pampering from people close to them.

And to our customers, many thanks for staying with us through a challenging 2008.  With 4+ years under our belts, we’ve made many wonderful friends.  We love seeing you every month, and are proud of the important role you allow us to play in your busy lives.

As for the future, we’ll keep working a little harder… to make your lives a little easier.  Thanks to you — employees and customers — our business is strong.  As a company, and as a country, we’re not out of the woods yet.   But as long as we keep getting notes like this one we know we’ll be OK:

Two Ways to Raise

Let’s Dish! offers two great ways for your non-profit organization to raise money.  Both options allow your organization members to make great-tasting, homemade meals for their families while raising money for the group. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser with us, simply download this brochure and fill out the application form on the back, then bring it to your nearest Let’s Dish! location or email it to fundraisers@letsdish.net. We’ll help you get everything set up so you can start dishing dinners and raising money!

   Fundraising Private Party 

• Fill out the fundraising application (page 2) and submit to Let’s Dish!
• We will coordinate with you to choose a date and time for your fundraising party
• We will give you a special promotion code for party invitees to use when signing up for your party
• You and your invitees have the store to yourselves for your  party and everyone dishes!
• Fundraising party requires a minimum of 10 orders
• Let’s Dish! donates 10% of each order back to your organization

   Ongoing Fundraiser 

• Fill out the fundraising application (page 2) and submit to Let’s Dish!
• We will coordinate and establish a time frame for your fundraiser to be held (minimum of 1 week; maximum of 3 months)
• A fundraising code and customized electronic flier is created for you to distribute to your organization members
• Members of your organization must enter the designated promotional code when placing their Let’s Dish! orders on www.letsdish.com
• Promotional code may be used an unlimited amount of times during the fundraiser time frame

Since we opened in 2004, we’ve had a loyal following of seniors who truly adore our product.  They typically split (or use the new HALVES option) because they are usually feeding just 1-2 people.   Many prefer to dish themselves because it’s a fun and social outing.   It makes their lives easier by simplifying meal time, saving money, and limiting necessary trips to the grocery store.

When we launched DishDelivery, things got  more interesting.  A handful of our customers were having our meals shipped to their parents or grandparents, especially if they lived a bit farther away (we’re able to ship our meals along the eastern seaboard as far as Hartford, CT and Albany NY in the north and Raleigh, NC in the south).  We saw spikes in this around holidays.  Sometimes it was just a nice gift; other times, the recipient had lost some mobility for one reason or another and this was a big help.

My wife and jumped on this trend.  For a few years, we had been bringing our food with us when we visited relatives.  Now, with delivery, we started shipping.  With the help of both sets of our parents, we’ve been sending meals to each of our grandparents, who range in age from late 70’s to late 80’s (and still looking great, I might add!).  We do it fairly regularly and it’s really a nice feeling to know they are eating healthy food and don’t have to trouble themselves much with grocery shopping or complicated meal prep.

So to all the grandmas and grandpas and moms and dads and aunts and uncles out there to whom we owe so much– thanks, and enjoy the meals!
