We’ve told you how much Let’s Dish! saves you over dining out, but did you realize that Let’s Dish! can be more affordable than shopping and cooking on your own? Add the time you save (and it’s more than a “dash”) and you’ve got to seriously rethink cooking from scratch!
If you’ve grocery shopped lately, you know the situation: food costs are higher than ever (according to FOX News, food costs are rising the fastest in 17 years).
To show you just how much we save our dishers, we did a cost comparison of grocery costs vs. dishing costs for two dishes from our May menu: Thai-Marinated Flank Steak and Mahi Mahi with Red Ancho Marinade.
The savings might surprise you. Here are some of the highlights:
- If you bought all the ingredients at a grocery chain, you’d spend up to 14% more per serving than you do at a Let’s Dish! in-store session.
- Those leftover ingredients not only clutter your pantry but they add up the costs. That Red Ancho Marinade, for example… you only need $0.69 worth (or 2 TBS) but you’ll pay $9.95 for the 14.4 oz jar!
- Check the price of flank steak recently? We can offer you the entire, marinated meal for close to the same price as steak alone!
- The average price per serving can jump $0.25 to over $3.50 more when you make the same meal from scratch.
Accounting for waste, Let’s Dish! can save you 50% vs making it yourself. And who wants to go through all that shopping and chopping hassle, just to spend more money than you would by dishing?! See the numbers for yourself - or better yet, skip to counting the savings that will add up in your bank account.
It’s time to start considering Let’s Dish! among your solutions for soaring food costs. Sure, you can continue to browse those grocery aisles; you’ll only see those sky-high food prices. Head online to www.letsdish.com instead - and see only the savings and scrumptious meals ahead.

Wow, I clicked on the link for the break down of food costs. Uh, WHERE do YOU shop for food items????? I realize you need to make your food costs seem less, but goodness gracious, where I shop, things are MUCH less expensive!!! Most consumers shop sales, and have some suppies on hand already.

Hi Cassie,
Glad you had a chance to see the detailed analysis. I appreciate your message. Did most of the shopping myself via Peapod, Giant Foods’ online grocery. They didn’t have all the products (for example, no ancho paste!), so I had to order from an online specialty store… (I did not include shipping or delivery costs in any of the analysis). The prices in the spreadsheet were the prices I paid… and some of the items were actually on sale, believe it or not! Note that I live in the DC metro area, where prices tend to be on the high side… but I think the comparison is appropriate, since most of our Let’s Dish! stores are near the District.
And I agree that many consumers have some of the items around. That’s why I ran the numbers two ways. Even if you have, say, olive oil in your house, using it to cook from scratch means you’ll have to replace the bottle sooner. Finally, although i took advantage of sale prices on Peapod, I used the full retail prices from Let’s Dish!
Hopefully with this additional detail, you’ll agree that Let’s Dish! is an outstanding value. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to explain. - Jeremy
