What’s going to work? Teamwork!

Enlist the support of a trusted friend to help you attack an organizing task. You can visit with each other as you work, which will make the task more enjoyable.

For me, everything is easier with a buddy. Having someone else to answer to seems to make it more important to do my best. Whether it’s a school parent volunteer project, a diet or a house clean up, reporting progress to another person makes it easier to stay on task. I usually make 12 dishes in a session and it can feel like a lot to get done. When I dish with a friend the time flies!

I love this one, Elizabeth. I find it not only makes the task more enjoyable and move along more quickly but also that I desperately need that second set of eyes. Often my “buddy” is more detatched to my clutter so they help me put more in the pile to donate, send to consignment or get rid of than I do on my own!

One other extra thought on this - you can also enlist your kids as your buddies! Mine are only 5 1/2 and nearly 4 but they still help to be that partner you need to get the job done. Plus, it’s a nice way to spend some time together and chat while you’re doing something. (I can imagine it will be better when they are older and the conversation is not just about feeding their unicorn Webkinz and such!)
